Short-term Missionary Information

God is working in great ways in the North Country of upstate New York. The Adirondack Mountains provide the backdrop for some amazing ministries to athletes, locals and tourists who come here from all over the world. Through the various ministries of North Country Ministries (NCM), in partnership with local churches, we have opportunities to share Christ with people from all over the world. Most of the people who reside in and visit the resort areas of the North Country do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Our desire is to implement strategic, focused, intentional ways for people to hear the gospel of Christ. Three passages of Scripture that are important to NCM are: Matthew 5:16, Matthew 9:35-38 and 1 Peter 3:15.

(bobsled, snowboard, others)

Creative ministries

(utilizing goody bags, hand warmers, cowbells, concerts, more)

Weekly Athletes Bible Study at the Olympic Training Center

Community outreach concerts (summer)

Serving at Tupper Lake Tin Man race (June)

Servant evangelism during “I Love BBQ” Festival (July)

Ironman Triathlon ministries (July)

Hiking and canoeing ministries

Vacation Bible camp (August)

Community encouragement ministries

Personal evangelism

Home-cooked meals for athletes

We need college-aged or older young adults who are interested in spending anywhere from two weeks to six months (and perhaps, a bit longer) in the North Country region as short-term missionaries. Each of our missionaries will provide leadership in one or more areas of ministry. Perhaps new ministries will even be developed by the missionary. We hope that your time with us will stretch you and grow you, and we want to provide an opportunity for God to use your gifts and abilities to lead people to Him.

Our short-term missionaries are responsible for helping to raise their financial support to pay for their missionary experience. Short-term missionaries may choose to get a part-time job in Lake Placid while they are serving here. NCM has a few ministry partners who have helped to provide financial assistance for short-term missionaries in the past, and we will contact them to see if any funds are available to help you. The process of raising your own financial support may be challenging, but we have seen God use this process in people’s lives to build up their faith and to show Himself faithful to provide. There are many ways to raise this support. Consult NCM, your pastors, your parents or others for guidance on this process. The cost of the trip will vary depending on where you are traveling from, how long you will be serving with us, etc.
